“Dan Moxon is a Vancouver based singer-songwriter pianist who is most well known for fronting the rock band BEND SINISTER. He has toured and performed around the world in Bend Sinister for the last 15 years and released 9 albums with the band. In 2018 Dan decided to go into the studio to record his Debut solo album with help from lots of friends and local musicians. With a love of classic rock, soul and Motown, the album pulls from all Dan’s influences as he takes his own spin on so many different styles”.
When did you know you wanted to be a musician?
I was playing jazz thru high school and music seemed to come naturally to me. I decided to go to university to study film and about 2 years into my degree I realized that music was my jam
Are you trained? How did you develop your skills?
I took guitar lessons from grade 6-12 and studied in jazz at school. Once out of high school I self taught myself piano and only worked up the courage to start singing in university
Who are some of your biggest musical influences?
There’s too many to count but I’d say Paul McCartney and Freddy mercy are way up there
How would you describe your sound?
I write songs on piano and so that definitely defines the style. I’ve always had a more classic old school sound to the songwriting too
What’s your favourite tune in your repertoire and why?
A favorite song always changes when new ones are written and learned. Right now I’m obsessed with a new song I’ve only 1/2 written which I think will be called ‘The Storm I know’
What can audiences expect from one of your live shows?
A good time and smiles all around
