It’s MyCinema Awards time – that time when our writing staff digs through the long lists of movies we loved, loathed, and everything in between to try and capture The Year in Cinema. This year we fell for everything from prestige fare to jazz biopics to fascinating small movies that many other folks overlooked.

The MyCinema Awards are by nature subjective – but we have one key eligibility requirement: the films need to reach wide release (or as wide as they will ever go) within the nomination period (Jan 1- Dec 31) to be eligible. This might mean that some “Festival Only” pieces get overlooked – but it means that our list is a true reflection of the 2016 That Was.

The winners will be announced in April along with the winners of our Honorary Award, Emerging Artist, Performer of the Year and Fan Favourite (which you can vote on by tweeting to @MyEntWorld).

All nominees are invited to participate in our annual Nominee Interview SeriesPlease email editors@myentertainmentworld.ca to sign up.

Also be sure to check out our nominations for the MyTV Awards and MyTheatre Awards in Toronto, London, and New York.

Without further ado, we invite you to relax and dive in along with us:
