Chills run up and down my spine. My ego says “fuck this man, I’m out of here”! The pressure builds in my ears as the instrumental drones of Insect Ark’s latest single “Symbols” drives its subtly uneasy pulse through the core of my soul. The layers of lap steel guitar create a sense of doom and imminent demise. I imagine a bleak ending, but the sound quality and performance is so well glued together I can’t stop listening.
Insect Ark’s new EP Long Arms will be available March 15th via Geweih Ritual Documents.
It’s incredible to think one person can pull this off live, but Insect Ark is a solo act comprised of the Brooklyn based musician Dana Schechter. Dana is known for her work with Michael Gira (Swans, Angels of Light), Mark Eitzel (American Music Club) and Bee and Flower. Catch Insect Ark on tour with Aidan Baker (Nadja) between March and April 2013.
